guitar hero.....whammy

Looking for some massive Techno? Then look no further than this hot new release on Canadian imprint 4Play Trax.  The sister label of Amplified Digital, 4Play has been making waves with new and up and coming Canadian producers with remixes from some of the world’s best young talent. This techno release isn’t exactly what you might typically hear on this label, but I welcome the change up with open arms.

Along with the Original Mix are techno remixes by Peppelino and a Re-work from Sadowick & SDK (Techno), while our very close friend Joran rounds things out with a banging house remix that is more techno than anything.

Another great package put together by 4Play Trax and definitely something different from their camp but still quality music for your for just about any setting, except maybe your wedding.  Or is it?  Read on past the break for high quality samples.

Ad Brown – Vaporized [Fris!]

Rated 100% Man-crush worthy...

Fris! 1311-0 400X400

Well, I know I kind of promised the 500th review to Aaron, but what can I say, I just received Ad Brown’s latest production and I simply couldn’t wait any longer.  So Aaron, I’m sorry, but in return, I’ll give you the 1000th review. Deal?

Moving along, this is Ad’s latest effort on Fris!, yet another of the many sublabels parented by Black Hole Recordings, and on remix duties we have none other than the recently unstoppable Steur Bros.  The Original Mix reeks of Ad, what with it’s sexy kick drum and bass combination, oscillating synths and well crafted breakdown.  This is destined to be a progressive classic, and that melody in the breakdown is so totally cheesy-inspirational-awesome-80s like that, frankly, who wouldn’t love it? FFS, seriously, I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: This is currently the world’s best progressive producer! This track cements his position in my heart, and playlists…

Read on for samples of the Original Mix and the Steur Bros Remix.  Also, be sure to vote for your fave!

Oliver Lang – Bang [Fris!]

A dark and sexy club romp...

Fris! 1309-0 400x400

'insert sexual innuendo here'

This is Oliver Lang’s follow up to “Persil”, the track that he made with Whelan & Di Scala. Before that, we reviewed his EP that featured Full Tilt and Pressure Drop and now Oliver Lang’s back with a brand new club stomper with Bang. The track features a deep, pumping bass line that seems to roll right through you when you play it loud. It’s really a fat club track with a slightly dark, but sexy, techno style twist to it that will work perfectly in a packed club full of sexy people. The theme is very subtle, erotic, and builds towards a lengthy but super tense break that will eventually come to a fabulous climax, and it sure does!

The remix, delivered by Swen Weber, is most certainly a louder and rougher interpretation of the original and especially the classic style, hammering beats are excellent for the harder live sets in big venues. Oliver Lang’s new release definitely makes you want to “Bang”!

A journey that is not to be missed!

It seems to be artist album season, and with about 5-6 albums waiting to get some attention, I decided to skip a few and jump to this smooth and soothing progressive gem. This isn’t the first time that Toes In The Sand have graced our website, nor is it Soulfinder’s first either, with an earlier remix on a tasty package by Josel.

This artist album arrived as a surprise, and needless to say, the surprises didn’t end there. “Wasteland” is also the debut LP for Dublin’s Soulfinder, who has quickly made a name for himself with a flurry of top-shelf originals and remixes. Though deep and mature like a fine Malbec, “Wasteland” is no snoozer, working equally well for dancefloors and headphones. Also included is a continuous DJ mix of the album, mixed by the man himself.

Onionz – Sex on the Floor (dPen Remixes) [Stripped Recordings UK]

dPen is a name I’ve come across in the past, but until these two tasty remixes, I had not given any real attention to. Now is the time to do do!

dPen is a young producer from Athens who counts Sasha, Digweed and Paul van Dyk among his influences.  After a successful first release in 2006, dPen has gone on to work with countless labels and producers, slowly crafting his sound into what we hear today. I’m not too sure how these two tracks will be released (part of the charm of advanced promos), but I assume it will be included on Vol. 2 of the Sex on the Floor Remix Package on Stripped Recordings.

Read on past the break for my take on these two remixes, one with Vocals, one Dubbed.  Samples are included!

I hope this offends everyone...

Hailing from Toronto, Joe’s been at the forefront of the Toronto (let’s not forget London too!) House Music revival for years now, and his countless BlowMedia releases are a testament to just that! In 2007 he decided it was time to start crafting his sound on his own label, and Invasive Recordings was born.

This latest release pumps out a relentless techno groove that would cause mass hysteria in a darkened Toronto club at 4am on a monday morning….can anyone say Comfort Zone? :D

Read on past the break for a quick rundown of this hypnotic and driving techno track, a high quality sample and some key links to get you started with Macca’s sound!

Armand Pena – Nervous Nitelife: Miami 2009 [Nervous Records]

Posted by Andre on March 17 under Compilations | Read the First Comment | 410 views

rephlektorlist_miami2009presslorezWinter Music Conference is just around the corner for many scenesters and partygoers, and seminal NYC house music label Nervous Records has used the Winter Music Conference (WMC) as a platform for showing the world what a proper party is all about. Back in 1997, the crew took over the local Denny’s and installed a soundsystem, blacked out the windows and ordered “Grand Slam” breakfasts for all as artists spun the sickest house music.

To this day, they’re continuing to showcase insane parties, with this year’s edition featuring Murk (Oscar G & Ralph Falcon), Tom Novy, Chris Lake, Tom Stephan, Paul Harris, George Morel, Flash Brothers and Armand Pena among many others at Nikki Beach.

In order to prepare for a week of partying and relaxing (ha, sure!) Nervous has asked Armand Pena to compile a 17 track, 1 CD mix.  This mix, aptly titled Nervous Nitelife: Miami 2009 showcases many of Armand’s productions and remixes, but also manages to capture a broad musical spectrum along the way. Vocals abound, sexy beats pound relentlessly and you can help but feel a tribal urge to get down on the dancefloor as Armand controls your every move.

Read on past the break for the full track list, some high quality samples and details on the Nervous Nitelife: Miami 2009 release party @ Nikki Beach during WMC.
