8/10

The latest package from Red Force Recordings is brought to you by their newest recruit, Harry Dyer (also known as Gravity). “Red Light Green Light” caught our ears on first listen and well, needless to say, we just had to review it! “Red Light Green Light” is a playful, prog-trance track with bubbly plucks and a very warm theme. We’re sure you’ll find Harry’s sound as unique and refreshing as we have, with direct parallels to David West or Joonas Hahmo’s style of trance.

On the remix front comes Anjunabeats upperclassman Adam Nickey. Adam drops this track into 6th gear, adding in powerful drums, a driving bassline and his trademark lush synthwork to create a full-on monster. Harry also took a turn at remixing his own tune and the result can be described as slightly harder and a bit of a tease!

8/10

The smash hit from Cosmic Gate’s latest album finally lands into DJs hands with 2 Original Mixes and 4 tasty remixes in this Tiesto supported Black Hole Recordings release. Originally released in March of 2009 on Cosmic Gate’s Sign of the Times artist album, Under Your Spell is a spellbinding vocal trance track that errs on the more ambient side of things as Aruna’s voice adds a whole new level of appreciation to this well constructed track.

Along with the Album Mix and Radio Edit are 4 remixes from Duderstadt, and Myon & Shane 54.  All 4 remixes are well crafted and compliment the track’s star, Aruna.  For more details on each version, some high quality samples and for your chance to vote for your fave, simply head on past the jump!

Vadim Soloviev – GMT+3 [Intuition Deep]

Who said progressive had to be boring?
- Andre
9/10

vadim_soloviev_photo_4No wonder this DJ and producer is well-known far beyond the borders of his home country, Russia – Vadim is extremely talented, very hardworking and passionate about music. Vadim Soloviev started his career in 1998 and since then he’s been championed by some of the world’s top jocks, including Tiesto, Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold, Ferry Corsten, Above & Beyond and many, many more.

This latest release on progressive heavyweight imprint Intuition Deep is a testament to 1) Vadim’s raw skill, 2) Russia’s emanating talent in the trance scene and 3) Intuition’s ability to snag the best of the best. GMT+3 is a groovy number that redefines the progressive trance sound, melting a big room sound with a groovy beat that has heaps of techno influenced elements.  On the B side we’ve got a slightly more experimental number in Glitch Flow. Read on past the break for my rundown of each track, some high quality samples and for your chance to vote for your fave!

Evgeny Bardyuhza is a name I have certainly seen before, but I haven’t found the time to really give him a proper listen. Having just pumped out an album earlier this month, he is quite deserving of a bit of attention, and with this EP (And that album, which Andre reviewed it seems!) being kicked out on the Deep sublabel of Neuroscience Recordings, I could not resist, cause I love NeuroDeep! Read on for samples and an in-depth examination of these two tracks.

Douglas Hazelwood – People Say EP [Dangerbox]

Just a carefree joyride!
- Aaron
8/10

52-5584_600I’ve been sitting on this one for months, it’s housecleaning time.

Douglas Hazelwood is an American producer, and it seems, one of the guys in charge of Dangerbox Recordings (The other guy, it would seem, is the Artificial Dreamer, Jimmy Bastista). Now, I’m not familiar with Doug’s work (As himself, and as Arc, alongside Jimmy), but I’ve heard good things. This EP features Di on the vocals, so you get some vocals, you get some dubs, and most importantly, you get some quality (Hopefully!). Read on!

Michael Calderone & Christopher Reddick – Sound of Flight [Coldharbour Recordings]

Youthful energy and timeless class collide.

LA residents Michael Calderone and Christopher Reddick took care of quite a highlight on Markus Schulz‘ ‘Toronto ‘09′ album. Not often does one catch the pure Coldharbour sound, but these guys did. With ‘Sound of Flight’, Calderone and Reddick come up with an anthem of its own merit, yet more than fit for the Coldharbour  label. ‘Sound of Flight’ takes off with a deep-digging bassline, getting the track in shape for a melodic invasion later.

Along with the original is a smooth remix by fellow American producers Grube & Hovsepian. Read on past the break to get my full take on each mix, some high quality samples and for your chance to vote for your favorite!

Deck Jagger – Utopia EP [Wildchild Records]

A truly versatile trio, from love to club!
- Andre
8/10

artworks-000000519938-tnjr89-originalI received this release, rather mysteriously, some time ago and as has been apparent lately, I’m busy playing catch up, so here we are today.  This release, the latest on Wildchild Records (the trance arm of Baroque Records) is a rather unique spin on the typical progressive trance sound that we’re hearing lately.

Deck Jagger, as I am sure many aren’t aware, is the harder edged alias for the Finnish production trio Syna. We’ve been covering Syna on MusiCritics as of late, and the entire Finnish trance wave to boot.  This latest effort from the boys incorporates some of the sounds you might find in a top 40 club hit with their signature smooth progressive sound. The release includes the title track, Utopia and a dirty,  club friendly track titled Gay Clubs Are Better

Read on past the break for high quality samples, you won’t want to miss Gay Clubs Are Better.  It happens to include a rather iconic quote from none other than Moby!

Ima’gin – Chechnya EP [Echelon Records]

A mystical journey...
- Shrey
9/10

Front_cover

Markus Lähteenoja aka Ima’gin is the co-founder of Echelen Records. Finnish guys Tempo Guisto and Ima’gin had launched Echelen Records just last year and within 2 years of span, they have quite an impressive amount of releases under their belt. This is the 33rd release, Chechnya EP. On remix duties we have ever reliable Tempo Giusto and UK’s 5tranger aka EDU.

This EP features 2 original tracks (‘Chechnya’ & ‘De Agua y Sal’ ) and 2 remixes. I found this EP very unique because of its genre-bending sound. They have their roots in progressive trance, but the mood and atmosphere is very cinematically eerie to say the least. Also ‘De Agua y Sal’ has been inspired by a poem by Catalan poet Francesc Picas. Quite an interesting stuff here from Markus, I must say…!! Let’s have a detailed look on all the tracks.
