Danjo & aXess present their new single Captivity released on the storied In Trance We Trust label. To those who may not recognize Danjo’s name, shame on you! Ok, I kid, I’m sorry.  His 2005 remix of Vivagio by Epos is still to this day my favorite uplifting, melodic and symphonic production. Be sure to give it your undivided attention, here is it in full on youtube.

Captivity kicks off with a highly percussive intro and steadily works its way towards a truly classical, symphonic break. The piano pours an incredibly thick layer of emotion over the entire track, washing the breakdown in emotions that simply pour from your soul…just to have the track come back as a hard trance killer after the crash.

The SkyTech remix takes away some of the rough edges of the original version and focuses on tearing synth lines, with stupendous strings layered underneath. Danjo & aXess will keep the dancers in Captivity when the DJ plays this one, and the office drones in a blind stupor as they piss away the office hours.  I know I will be…

Read on past the break to find out what perfectly balanced trance sounds like, and be sure to stick around long enough to enjoy the build up in the breakdown.  It’s just the kind of build up that makes you want to jack the volume UP! Be sure to vote for your favorite too!

No more 'Mystik'al interludes...!!!

9/10

Here we’ve new record on Echelon White, which showcases more melodic, uplifting trance tracks. George Philips aka Type 41 has returned on the label for the follow up of his 2009 single – ‘Serenity’.  I really liked the special progressive club mix from label head Tempo Giusto himself.  This one goes beyond what serenity offered and gets more bangin’ after each listen…!! 4 track pack here containing original mixes of Mystik & Lifespark. + Mystik Remixed by POl & Innerstate.

Ben Preston – Avoid Gravity/North To South [2Play Records]

Powering 2010's hopes and dreams!
- Andre
8/10

Ben Preston’s name has been popping up nearly everywhere lately and this latest two track EP on 2Play records shows that this young UK producer is growing into his style, a style that started out rather ho-hum in the progressive scene into what we now present to you today: A well crafted uplifting trancer that ought to knock the knickers off any partier!

Avoid Gravity, which immediately conjures up images of humans cautiously tip toeing past gravity in order to not wake it, is a piano laced beauty that when played loud lifts your body and spirits, doing exactly what the title depicts.  On the B-Side we’re treated to North To South, a crisp number that features a rather interesting kick (it sounds like it’s topping and bottoming out), a deeper groove and a simple, formulaic melody that manages to impregnate my cognizant thought for days on end.

I’m adding him to my shortlist of producers to watch out for in 2010, I think you should too!

Read on past the break to sample both of these tracks, they are a nicely rounded package that lifts without uprooting.

Just the thing to thaw those dreams!

8/10

image001Infrasonic welcome two more up and coming trance producers for their second release in the shape of Setrise & Nurettin Colak. This is actually Setrise’s, otherwise known as Melle Bakker, 4th appearance on our site, and Nurettin’s second.

Hailing from Holland and Turkey respectfully both producers have been on fire as of late with original tracks and remixes coming thick and fast for the likes of Armada, Shah and In Trance We Trust. Frozen Dreams is another fantastic uplifter from the duo who compliment each others style perfectly. This is quite literally ‘feel-good’ trance, perfect for the dreary winter months, backed with another epic remix from Infrasonic honcho Six Senses, making this another release not to be missed from Infrasonic HQ.

I’ve been madly in love with Six Senses’ sound since 2005, and it brings me great pleasure to feature these two uplifting productions on MusiCritics.com!  Read on past the break for high quality samples and for your chance to vote for your fave!

Vojt Van Twistigen is a new name in my trance repertoire, but something tells me it’s a name I will be seeing rather often in the near future. This 19 year old Polish producer hailing from Lubin has seen 3 other releases this year and this latest on the Neuroscience Deep imprint cements his likely rise to stardom.

The Midnight EP comes packed with three tracks that meander through a deep progressive soundscape: Midnight, Between and Close. This is a truly unique release and a rather impressive step for the Neuroscience Deep label.

Read on past the break for my full take on the EP, some high quality samples and for your chance to vote for your favorite.

This latest from the very talented Neuroscience roster features a smooth original mix and three remixes to round things out.  On remix duties we have Temple One, Rozza and The Flyers & Mike Sonar.  Read on past the jump for my take on the 4 tracks, some high quality samples and for your chance to vote for your favorite!
