running out of colors gents?
Well, its deep into 2010 and Finity has finally unleashed its first release of the year, and after their hot finish to 2009, it’s no surprise to hear this solid release come from the hands of yet another talented Finnish trance producer. Thomas is no stranger to trance, neither is he a stranger to the Finity camp as this is his 4th release on the imprint.
This latest packs 3 tracks, each original productions, that span progressive soundscapes and plant themselves firmly in euphoric trance. Imaginary Friends is a catchy little number that pushes the pace some and includes some dreamy female vocals; while Walking Against It is more David West/Joonas Hahmo in style, once again featuring some great cut up and effected vocals. The last track is probably the most likable, with its Niklas Grosswald like sound that would fit perfectly early on in a slamming trance set. Don’t miss The One You Love!

Evgeny Bardyuzha is a regular feature at Neuroscience. His tracks regularly gain the support of DJs such as Markus Schulz, Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold and Eddie Halliwell, thanks to his distinct and unique production style. Back in October of 2009, Evgeny released his debut artist album, ‘Point of No Return’, which we reviewed with critical appraise. Now, in 2010, Neuroscience brings you ‘Hylea‘, a track that was featured on his album, a track which I pointed out as a standard out production.
‘Hylea‘ is one of the strongest tracks from the album and it was an obvious choice for a full release with remixes. After teaming up with Russian website PromoDJ.ru, Neuroscience launched a remix contest, which well and truly delivered on the goods. It was hard work, but they managed to narrow it down to six winners including, Cramp, Vullcan, Rave CHannel, Broning, Deep Sound and Eryo. Not surprisingly, there are only 2 new names in that list! In addition, Evgeny has reworked the original album mix in to a DJ friendly club mix.

Up-and-coming Dutch producer Jerom brings us the first 2010 release on the Neuroscience Recordings imprint. Jerom is probably most known for his ‘Visions’ radio show, as well as some great releases on labels such as Bitter Sweet and Mostly (Dazzle’s label). The EP features two superb trance tracks by the names of ‘One Day‘ and ‘We Will Meet Again‘. ‘One Day‘ has already gained support from Tiesto on his ‘Club Life’ radio show. Both tracks are a great example of uplifting trance, showing Jerom’s talents perfectly.
Those simple in style, both of these tracks are superbly effective, you do not want to let these slip by, so hit up the ‘read more’ link and sample both tracks in high quality! Stay tuned for more from this talented producer!
Leandro Fiorio & Marcelo Rollano aka XGenic have steadily made a name for themselves over the past couple of years with support for their releases from the likes of Armin van Buuren, Above & Beyond and Ferry Corsten. They debut on Enhanced with Around Me, a far more progressive track from their typical uplifting style. A track with real excitement and energy with tight, punchy percussion that make this a delight and a real floor mover.
Remix duties fall to Steve Brian, The Flyers & Mike Sonar and also sees a welcome return form Maarten Hercules. Steve Brian’s remix of Temple One’s Sahara Nights has seen amazing support and surely this remix will follow suit; it really is superb once again; an amazingly understated pounding prog trancer!
The Flyers & Mike Sonar return after their Judge Jules ‘Tried and Tested Tune Of The Week’ remix for Sahara Nights, and they add their trademark sound to this in perfect style. Lastly Maarten Hercules returns to Enhanced with a classy interpretation of the original. Harmonics was a huge release for Maarten, and one of the first releases on Enhanced Progressive so it’s great to see him back on the label.

This is DJ Eco’s long awaited track, soon to be released on Tone Diary, and we’ve got an exclusive scoop on the track! DJ Eco’s been around the music scene for years now, and this Jersey based producer knows how to give back to his fans (IF you’re wondering how he does it, stop by his MySpace blog….)
With releases and remixes on Flashover, Istmo Music, ASOT, Infrasonic and far too many others to list here, his name is rather synonymous with what some consider to be a more purist approach to trance, never waving in his style, DJ Eco continues to produce music that inspires, motivates and lightens the day.
This latest effort on Marcus Schossow’s Tone Diary Recordings his DJ Eco’s second release on the label, and it is a masterpiece of progressive, epic and melodic trance combined to create a truly out of body, euphoric experience. The track meanders through soft soundscapes, remembers it’s roots and paints a truly inspiring picture as it progresses, culominating in a beautiful breakdown.

Yet another solid trance release, this time from UK based (Finland born) Echelon Records, run by none other than Tempo Giusto and Ima’gin, two producers we’ve covered extensively here on MusiCritics.com
As the second release of their young White subprint, they’ve compiled one track from Blue Tente, who presents to us a new moniker in North Sight. Judging by the author, I’m going to go out on a limb and guess this is yet another Finnish production, and what a fine production it is. The Original Mix is a sultry little trance number that doesn’t rush anything. Taking it’s time to dance around you, it slowly develops into a wonderful number with a mesmerizing lead and an overall balanced sound that is almost only reserved for the Fins.
On remix duties we have ReOrder who puts in a stellar effort, taking the original sleeper and turning it into a bit of a ferocious beast. I imagine this to be a cross between a fine Finnish progressive piece and an in your face production from the liks of the Recoverworld camp (think Activa, O’Callagahn or Askew). I’d even equate the level of epicness in the remix to Armin’s Communication Part 3!

Just 2 days to go for the Luminosity event in Amsterdam and it’s the perfect time to review the theme track for the mega-event (2nd anniversary of Luminosity). None other than rising dutch duo-Vast Vision (Stijn Coppieters & Roland Andriese) has delivered this gem titled ‘Luminosity’ (No surprises here..!!), who will be spinning there with veterans like Alex M.O.R.P.H, Airbase, Stoneface & Terminal, Ronski Speed etc.
On remix duties we have DNS Project, bringing loads of attitude to the original version. Also, Another track by Vast Vision titled ‘Contact’ is also included to conclude the package.

Is it obvious that I’m cleaning out a backlog of Discover releases? It should be, and in any regard, this is my last of the day and most definitely the most unique release on the Discover White Label since it’s first release 12 months ago. John completely reinvents his sound for this exotic release, and Beirut is probably his most lush and relaxing release to date.
Along with John’s Original Mix, which is, by the way, down tempo and chilled out to the max, are two tasty remixes from Thomas Datt and recent remix contest winner, Xgenic. Thomas’ remix is a sultry progressive number that is dark and edgy, while maintaining much of the uplifting aura of the Original Mix. As for Xgenic’s rework, I’ve got to say that considering what the original material was, he’s truly re-invented it and given it a sound that fits right at home with some of today’s harder hitting trance DJs like Christopher Lawrence, Sean Tyas and Paul van Dyk.

Plucked from outer space, Maarten shows his true self! ” - Andre

This Maarten’s second offering on Intuition’s latest subprint, Stellar Sounds. Maarten’s first release was an epic uplifting trance release and this latest does things a little differently. Hailing from the Netherlands, this young producer has had a busy 2009, seeing 4 full releases to date and you might recognize one of his other guises, Fa Kin Su Pah or Pax Royale.
Pluto, the lead off track, is a unique little number that creates a deep and wide atmosphere, something so vast that it makes most other progressive numbers feel forced and restrained. On the B-Side we’ve got Alien, a track that is funky beyond words, deep and fun to bounce around to. Read on for my take on the two tracks, some high quality samples and for your chance to vote for your favorite!

A truly versatile trio, from love to club! ” - Andre

I received this release, rather mysteriously, some time ago and as has been apparent lately, I’m busy playing catch up, so here we are today. This release, the latest on Wildchild Records (the trance arm of Baroque Records) is a rather unique spin on the typical progressive trance sound that we’re hearing lately.
Deck Jagger, as I am sure many aren’t aware, is the harder edged alias for the Finnish production trio Syna. We’ve been covering Syna on MusiCritics as of late, and the entire Finnish trance wave to boot. This latest effort from the boys incorporates some of the sounds you might find in a top 40 club hit with their signature smooth progressive sound. The release includes the title track, Utopia and a dirty, club friendly track titled Gay Clubs Are Better
Read on past the break for high quality samples, you won’t want to miss Gay Clubs Are Better. It happens to include a rather iconic quote from none other than Moby!
