Onionz – Sex on the Floor (dPen Remixes) [Stripped Recordings UK]

dPen is a name I’ve come across in the past, but until these two tasty remixes, I had not given any real attention to. Now is the time to do do!

dPen is a young producer from Athens who counts Sasha, Digweed and Paul van Dyk among his influences.  After a successful first release in 2006, dPen has gone on to work with countless labels and producers, slowly crafting his sound into what we hear today. I’m not too sure how these two tracks will be released (part of the charm of advanced promos), but I assume it will be included on Vol. 2 of the Sex on the Floor Remix Package on Stripped Recordings.

Onionz – Sex on the Floor (dPen Vocal Remix)

The track kicks off with soft chime like percussions, a growling kick and a severely dubbed out bass line that undermines the track’s top end. The epic build leading up to the 75 second mark is damn near capable of waking a comatose patient.  Wow, I feel so invigorated after that build, talk about yanking at my emotions! Moving along the track exudes sexiness from it’s core to it’s layered instruments, and I can’t help but want to be on the dancefloor, losing myself to some sex. The mid point of the track is when we finally get to hear the vocal part of this remix, and though it’s short and sweet, it certainly offers a lovely break from the pulsing beat and chimes.

This version is exactly the same length as the Vocal Remix, minus the vocal sample at the midpoint.  I’m pretty sure you can imagine what this one sounds like.

The Verdict

dPen has earned himself a permanent spot in my ‘follow’ list from this moment on, and it’s for a damn good reason! These two remixes of the hugely successful original are sexy from head to toe, and I’ll have these on repeat for months to come.
