Freefall – Sky Dive (Ad Brown Remix) [Independent]

Adam’s not afraid to tackle trance classics, first with his monumental remix of Holden & Thompson’s Nothing, and now with a deep and chuggy remix of Sky Dive by Freefall featuring Jan Johnston on vocals. Atop his busy schedule as both Ad Brown and Maxi Valvona, Adam still finds time to rework some of his favorites from days gone by into current and effective bootlegs. Earlier in the year we pegged Adam as a producer to watch for in 2009 and we’re re-iterating it here: If he were a stock option, he’d be a BUY! To those a little unfamiliar with Adam’s work, be prepared to be seduced.  His productions have always proven to be smooth, hypnotic and re-assuring (in a where’s-my-mom-i’m-sad kind of way).  This classic, originally released in 1998 (also titled I Feel Wonderful by many) is a pillar of the vocal trance scene.  Adam’s added his signature bassline and ‘bloopy’ percs to the mix early on, re-inforcing that this is indeed an Ad Brown production. By the 60 second mark Adam’s added a new groove to the mix that invigorates and energizes the melancholic and drawn out vocals of Jan Johnston. The breakdown highlights Jan’s voice as Ad adds slight elements and effects to the mix, giving it a larger sound than I originally remember back in the day. As the breakdown climaxes and releases the groove carries me and I’m wishing I was relaxing on a sun drenched patio, Mojito in hand.

The Verdict

Yet another well crafted piece of deep and uplifting progressive house.  I often cringe at the thought of classic reworks, but it’s efforts like these that restores my faith.  Make sure to leave a comment below if you’d like Adam to release the rework online, hopefully for free!
