I hope this offends everyone...

Hailing from Toronto, Joe’s been at the forefront of the Toronto (let’s not forget London too!) House Music revival for years now, and his countless BlowMedia releases are a testament to just that! In 2007 he decided it was time to start crafting his sound on his own label, and Invasive Recordings was born.

This latest release pumps out a relentless techno groove that would cause mass hysteria in a darkened Toronto club at 4am on a monday morning….can anyone say Comfort Zone? :D

Read on past the break for a quick rundown of this hypnotic and driving techno track, a high quality sample and some key links to get you started with Macca’s sound!

The track kicks off with a gritty vocal sample that ushers in an old school r&b type snare/clap/kick combo that quickly morphs into techno mayhem. As soon as I heard this track I was reminded of Blaz V’s ‘10000 808 claps‘ that I covered a while back, and well, that’s a great thing.  The track evolves by adding simple layers of climbing crescendos, builds and blips or bloops.  There is a heavy Toronto influence on this track’s sound, I’m immediately reminded of the typical Hatiras sound (minus his signature cowbell, thankfully) and a bit of deadmau5′ as well.  The track is dark, eery, groovy and hypnotic. The breakdown makes use of a jaw dropping build and before you know it, you’re back in trance ville, whisked away by the groovy underbelly of the track.

The Verdict

This track was original enough to catch my ear in what I consider to be a sea of boring techno.  Maybe it’s due to my geological proximity to Toronto that this track sits well with me, but this certainly doesn’t explain it’s harrowing similarities to Blaz’ release on Jesus Loved You.  An amazing track that is sure to rock the dirty and grimy clubs in the heart of the house and techno scene in Toronto.

Score: 8/10
