Sergey Shemet – Remember [Tranceport]

Sergey Shemet’s name first crossed my path with his remix of The A&F Project’s Moonlight Madness (On Flashover, if you’re curious). Since then I’ve kept a passive eye out for his name, and this is the latest turnout! Remember is a single off of Tranceport Recordings, and appears to be his first production debut, so good for him! Read on.

Sergey does an excellent job of blending grit and atmosphere, utilizing a mean-ass bassline and full stabs, to contrast the vocal sampling and the chilled guitar-like lead. The progression is top-heavy, and the bassline is actually something of a surprise as it drops in; and boy does it do the business! We even get a splash of breaks just before the mid-track break, good stuff! All in all you get a very full and warm track with a pinch of funk, serving as a wonderful introduction for DJ sets.
