We covered one of Invisible Sounds’ releases earlier in the year on Insatiable Records, and well, I’ve fallen in love with the master’s sound! Aaron’s been hunting for his latest works and he stumbled across two excellent free tracks!
The first is a bootleg remix of the theme to the video game Mirror’s Edge. It’s progressive done at its best, and this young Russian producer re-inforces the latest Russian based progressive trance movement!

This is my first time getting the chance to review Burian, seems like Aaron’s always the first to jump all over him, so let’s get to it before he manages to squeeze a review in before I do!
Ryan Grenz and Robert Burian (who is also BuRo…go figure!) follow up their excellent debut on Eve from 2008 (Chapter One) with this melodic yet understated trance tune that drives home a blissfully simple piano riff with devastating effect. Burian’s been a busy bee in 2009, with 4 releases and a handful of remixes. On remix duties we have the ever so popular Sean Truby. A catchy little name for a talented little producer who’s getting quite a bit of air time lately!
Read on to find out what makes these two tracks club staples for any self respecting trance nut. I’ve included some high quality samples and a poll so you can let us know, and the producers, which mix you liked the most!
Smart Apes is actually a new alias for Aquile and TB, having had a string of releases, this is their debut on the mighty Black Hole imprint, and well, we shall see how they fare. Enclosed find an original and radio edit, and remixes by Amex (Who has been getting his name out there with a degree of success), and Michael Angelo vs. Silver J & Catania, all of which I have never seen nor heard. It should be interesting. Read on!

Speaker go BOOM
Last summer Flux Delux launched the first in the album series “Underground Anthems” with a stunning compilation mix from Discover artist Thomas Datt.
Following on from that, they are pleased to announce Volume 2 in the series which has just been mixed by Italy’s No 1 trance DJ and producer Manuel Le Saux. The album will be released as a mixed CD and digital download which will include the downloads of all the single tracks – a significant proportion of which will have not yet been released!
I’ve had the opportunity to run the mix CD through it’s paces ahead of the rush and I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Many of the tracks I’ve acquired over the past few months, and I’ve been making extensive use of them in my own mixes and livesets, so it was a treat to hear Manuel’s take on them.
The mix is pounding, relentless and definitely indicative of a typical night clubbing in the UK. Read on for my full take and a 15 minute sample of the CD!
The latest from Claudia Cazacu’s Couture label comes to us courtesy of the young Englishman Rob Corbo. Rob’s previous releases have both been on Couture in 2008, and as his first release of the year, I’ve got high hopes. I’ve been following the label since I discovered hard hitter Gordon Coutts, so let’s see how this latest fares!
As the A-side, ‘Moonwalk’ is a strange beast, to say the least. It’s got some heavy electro influences, but Rob’s actually managed to properly incorporate trance, and euphoric trance at that! On the B-side we’re treated to something a little less energetic and more in the progressive realm of things.

In typical Laidback Luke fashion, he’s just remixed yet another mainstream song and given it the full laidback treatment. Follwoing in his Notorious B.I.G. remix, this remix proves that otherwise tasteless talent can, under the best of circumstances, sound good. (I’m not dissing Biggie here, just Beyonce…)

Since then I’ve kept a passive eye out for his name, and this is the latest turnout! Remember is a single off of Tranceport Recordings, and appears to be his first production debut, so good for him! Child label of Enhanced Music Limited, Enhanced Progressive have been churning out quality progressive trance since 2005, when they saw their first release feature Binary Finary and Jose Amnesia. Since then, I’ve purchased well over 6 of their releases (I had no idea!) and here I am today reviewing their forthcoming offering, ‘Vanilla Sky EP‘ by Arty. (Currently in pre-release on Beatport.com)
Arty’s a newcomer, as he’s seen his first release earlier in the year on Red-Silver Online-Digital. This 3 track EP is lush and absolutely mind melting. A few months ago I mentioned that I felt progressive trance was making a proper resurgence, and now months later, I can confidently announce it is in fact back in style. There seems to be a new breed of producers at the forefront of the progressive trance revival, and whatever it is they’re doing, they should just keep on doing it!
