Morgan Page has been involved with electronic music for over 14 years now, from humble beginnings in a log cabin, to a 2008 artist album….his current status amongst the dance scene is more than well deserved! His productions have garnered support from some of the world’s top jocks. Sasha, Deep Dish, Danny Tenaglia, Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Mark Farina and others have all given his productions the two thumbs up!

Personally, I discovered Morgan but a few months ago when I fell in love with ‘The Longest Road’ featuring Lissie. Since then, I’ve been following his work closely and when I discovered he was releasing ‘Elevate’ on Nettwerk Recordings, I just had to hear it! Upon hearing the album, I decided to write a review, covering the ups and downs throughout my journey and here we are today.

The album features tasty vocals paired up with deep, sexy and soulful house…..the perfect combination for a summer night’s patio romp. Highlights on the album include ‘The Longest Road’, both the original and deadmau5 remix, his remix of Nelly Furtado’s ‘Maneater’, his ‘Peace and Hate’ Remix and his original production alongside Camila Grey, ‘One Day’.

Full Review

The album begins with his original mix of his huge hit, ‘The Longest Road‘.  I’ve enjoyed this track, especially the deadmau5 remix, for many months
now and I can’t help but sing it for hours after simply hearing it once.  This epitomizes what catchy vocal house should be, and I’m sure it goes down smooth on a club floor. Along the same lines as this track are his remix of ‘Nervous in The Light of Dawn‘ by Leigh Nash, his remix of Nelly Furtado’s ‘Maneater‘, his production ‘One Day‘ ft Camila Grey and his remix of ‘Dirty Laundry‘ by Bitter:Sweet.  Each of these tracks provides a club friendly vibe, showcasing that Morgan knows exactly what it takes to make an instant hit.  Each of these have the potential to blow up this summer!

On the flipside of the emotional spectrum, Morgan included tracks which are more sentimental, subdued and tell a story like an artist with a blank canvas and only the finest paints. Starting with ‘Call My Name‘ ft Tyler James Morgan displays a wonderful production paired beautifully with a ColdPlay like voice, an instant classic!  Providing a darker tone to the album are his remix of ‘Peace and Hate‘ by The Submarines, his remix of ‘F__k Was I‘ by Jenny Owen Youngs, his work with Matt Wasley on ‘Fade Away‘.  We Can’t forget his remix of dance heavyweights Delerium, ‘Angelicus‘, providing a dark and gloomy setting that clashes beautifully with the vocals.

One thing I would like to point out is the fact that after my first listen to the album I was less than impressed at the style of music found on it.  But as the listen count climbed I simply couldn’t stop myself from tuning in.  Morgan, if you’re reading this, you are truly a visionary in a world of clones.  I didn’t understand your vision at first, but now I clearly see the master at work!

I highly recommend this album to just about ANY music fan, you won’t regret it!
