What a way to start the day; reviews and morning coffee. This time around I’ve picked up Russian producer Mango’s fresh new release, ‘Friday Coffee.’ How applicable, eh? This one was put out on Add2Basket, and I’ve heard little complaint about their stuff… As for Mango himself, I’ve heard a little of his work, but I’m always open to new things. Up on remix duty is Paul Keeley. So, coffee in hand, read on past the break to see what I’ve got to say about this release.
Up next on the chopping block is the new collaboration between American Christopher Lawrence, and British John ‘00′ Fleming, entitled “Beyond the Limit.” The release has four tracks, the Original Mix, the Deep Mix, and two remixes from producers Jay Selway and Nicholas Bennison. This is the first ever release on Lawrence’s newly born Pharmacy Music, and hopefully “Beyond the Limit” is just what the doctor prescribed(Puns, they’re inevitable). Read on past the break to see what I’ve got to say.
I’ve been meaning to put this one up for some time, so sorry if I kept you waiting Read more of this article »
Real Legacy Soothe is, to us, a brand new imprint spawned from the recently created Real Legacy Records headed by Alex Reliic and Paulo Der Munoz. From the name, we’d expect a nice chilled out release with some tasty melodies and spaced out effects. We’ll soon see how that turns out…
Their first release features an original track by Dhamika, ‘Never Let The Sun Go Down’, with remixes from Santiago Nino, SinFour and Der Mystik. I’ve never had a chance to review any of Dhamika’s previous works, but when I noticed the remix package that came along with it, I knew I simply couldn’t pass it up.
The Original is a slice of heaven, proper chilled out, downtempo pierced by chaos throughout. Very thought provoking and emotional from start to finish! The Santiago Nino remix provides a club worthy, panty dropping remix that will just about toss a crowd into mayhem. Yummy… SinFour’s interpretation is reminiscent of many ‘A State of Trance’ type trance tracks, but the added elements set it apart, in a league of its own. Der Mystik touches the very last remix in the package and as always lends his latin inspired tech trance edge to create a stormer! Read more of this article »
This week I got the opportunity to review some material by Belgian producer Airwave, who some of you may know as L-Vee, or one of the members of Cape Town. Fresh off his latest album come two tracks, “Candy of Life,” and “Sunshine in Your Heart.” Now, I will be the first to say that Touareg is an excellent album, and that if you have not checked it out, you should, post-haste. That said, I’ll be giving you my opinions regarding the original mixes of the two aforementioned tracks, as well as two new mixes. Andy Tau stepped up to deliver a remix of “Candy of Life,” while Airwave puts out a club mix of “Sunshine in Your Heart,” dubbed the “Club-A-Dub” mix. Read on past the break to see what I have to say about this release. Read more of this article »
My affection for Neuroscience Deep keeps growing, and their latest release certainly doesn’t hurt the cause. This latest progressive trancer comes from none other than David Shaw, who had an amazing featured track on one of Markus Schulz’ Presents Cold Harbour Selections Vol 14. The track in question was ‘Arabian Nights’, and just thinking of it still sends chills down my spine.
This latest effort, Everyone Illuminated, has been available on Beatport.com for nearly two weeks now, but somehow it got buried in my inbox for some time. The Original mix is a wonderfully constructed piece of melody driven progressive trance. Weighing in at over 10 minutes long, David manages to slowly and painstakingly build the song, layering lush pads, stabbed synths and a driving bassline that is often times pierced with an odd percussive element, or out there effects.
The supplemental remixes on this release provide quite varied takes on the original. Read on past the break for my full run down of the three versions, the Original and a remix from Perpetual and a slightly more banging version from Santerna.
Fresh off the synths, it’s Jonas Steur’s latest release: Holiday on Mars!
Jonas Steur is a Belgian producer that produces some neat, kinda quirky trance…That is, when he isn’t scheming to destroy innocent dance floors worldwide as his alter-ego, Evil Robot. So, right on the verge of summer, Steur put out these two tracks, such that we can enjoy them…For summer.
This release has two tunes; the original mix of Holiday on Mars, and the ‘Born for the Summer’ Remix of Pure Bliss, featuring the vocals of Jennifer Rene. Given the praise regarding their collaboration on the track “Fall to Pieces,” one could probably expect this project to be quality. Steur is probably one of my favorite producers at the moment, so I was eager to review this one, especially given the previews I have heard of both tracks.
Hello everyone, I figured that at some point I would write some reviews, so, well, no time like the present, eh? For my first entry into the proving grounds, I chose to review “Minimal Symphony,” the recent collaboration between Sied van Riel, and Geert Huinink, on Liquid Recordings. This release brings two mixes to the table; the original, and the ‘Other’ mix. On a personal note, I do enjoy a lot of Huinink’s production work, so let’s see how this collaboration works out.
Carl B Returns to Daif Records with a solo EP which provides both Carl’s usual sound and a more experimental approach, erring on the darker side of things. Carl’s been featured by countless world renowned DJs, remixed some of the world’s biggest musical stars and continues to provide the scene he loves so much with quality trance music!
This latest EP features two original productions. The first of two is aptly titled ‘6AM’, and embodies everything a track should have, should you find yourself at a club at 6AM! The second track leans towards Carl’s more standard style, nothing to balk at however, and is titled ‘Last Summer’.
Morgan Page has been involved with electronic music for over 14 years now, from humble beginnings in a log cabin, to a 2008 artist album….his current status amongst the dance scene is more than well deserved! His productions have garnered support from some of the world’s top jocks. Sasha, Deep Dish, Danny Tenaglia, Dave Seaman, Hernan Cattaneo, John Digweed, Mark Farina and others have all given his productions the two thumbs up!
Personally, I discovered Morgan but a few months ago when I fell in love with ‘The Longest Road’ featuring Lissie. Since then, I’ve been following his work closely and when I discovered he was releasing ‘Elevate’ on Nettwerk Recordings, I just had to hear it! Upon hearing the album, I decided to write a review, covering the ups and downs throughout my journey and here we are today.
The album features tasty vocals paired up with deep, sexy and soulful house…..the perfect combination for a summer night’s patio romp. Highlights on the album include ‘The Longest Road’, both the original and deadmau5 remix, his remix of Nelly Furtado’s ‘Maneater’, his ‘Peace and Hate’ Remix and his original production alongside Camila Grey, ‘One Day’.
Robert Vadney, Greek-American, has been perfecting his craft over the years on Oakenfold’s very own label, Perfecto. Robert’s recent ascent has certainly been well due, he’s touched songs and turned them into veritable goldmines! This latest release, courtesy of Emalodic (Adam White’s Label) provides an almost out of body experience. Heavenly vocals, impeccable production style and spine tingling build ups are in order. This is, ‘A Day In Heaven’…..
On the flipside, rising 20 year old Londoner Rozza tapers off the release with a deeper, darker and slightly balearic sound that begs to be played on a warm sunny day! Emalodic has always delivered amazing productions, and this latest continues the trend. Included on the release is a tasty acoustic version of the original, something I’m sure will be used to create an intro mix for the song. Who will be the first to attempt?
