Synthika is an electronic music collaboration project launched in 2007 by two Finnish brothers and producers Tempo Giusto and Ima’gin. Synthika’s production ranges from slower minimal to deep driving tech trance. Using the finest elements from several different genres, they call their style club progressive – always fresh and elaborate, their sound is distinct and melodies captivating while all of the production is essentially highly danceable club material.
And danceable is exactly what these two fine producers have accomplished in their latest Synthika collab, Powder Road EP. Don’t be fooled by the tracks’ otherwise soft names, these two are epic, dark and gritty….just the way I love my trance. This two track EP kicks things off with Powder Road, a monster of a trance track that shines in the breakdown and build with a synth sequence that will pierce your heart and leave you feeling empty. On the flip side we’ve got Lilacs, and though I instantly associated Lilacs with old ladies playing bridge, this track is nothing like that. Darker and deeper than Powder Road, this track is an emotional roller coaster that energizes and drains at the same time.

Is this shade of red becoming more and more familiar yet?
Suncatcher joins Enhanced after impressing during 2009 with several standout releases. With several remixes and originals in the pipeline for 2010 on Enhanced he kicks off his account with two superb uplifting trancers.
Heading the package is Wildflowers. Packed with soaring pads and blissful piano lines, backed up by a beastly bottom end this is a real crowd pleaser. With a huge breakdown, giving one of those classic hands in the air moments, this will no doubt be a stand out track for the young producer. The flip see’s Ocean City up the pace and intensity with its no holds barred approach and quite blistering main lead.
An incredibly strong double header from this young talent; and this is just the start of things to come; 2010 will be a great year for him. Read on past the break for some high quality samples!

Evgeny Bardyuzha is a regular feature at Neuroscience. His tracks regularly gain the support of DJs such as Markus Schulz, Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold and Eddie Halliwell, thanks to his distinct and unique production style. Back in October of 2009, Evgeny released his debut artist album, ‘Point of No Return’, which we reviewed with critical appraise. Now, in 2010, Neuroscience brings you ‘Hylea‘, a track that was featured on his album, a track which I pointed out as a standard out production.
‘Hylea‘ is one of the strongest tracks from the album and it was an obvious choice for a full release with remixes. After teaming up with Russian website PromoDJ.ru, Neuroscience launched a remix contest, which well and truly delivered on the goods. It was hard work, but they managed to narrow it down to six winners including, Cramp, Vullcan, Rave CHannel, Broning, Deep Sound and Eryo. Not surprisingly, there are only 2 new names in that list! In addition, Evgeny has reworked the original album mix in to a DJ friendly club mix.

Space Rockerz had a very successful debut with their single Zegema Beach and the track was immediately requested by Daniel Wanrooy for his mix compilation, In Trance We Trust 14. With that positivity still in mind, Space Rockerz worked hard to come up with this fabulous new release, entitled “Weather The Storm”. And a wonderful release it is…
The track is a truly symphonic piece of work that has all the potential to become a future anthem. Clocking in at almost ten minutes, the high energy atmosphere of the song will have an instant floor filler effect on your audience. Highly percussive beats lead towards a towering and truly massive break that seems to get bigger and bigger when it sets in. The trance DJs that dig the influence of classical music in their live sets shouldn’t wait any longer to play this one, ’cause the strings and synths in the build up of “Weather The Storm” offer just that.
Daniel Wanrooy gave the original an extreme make over and turned it into a truly big room slammer that will suit perfectly in the track list for a large event. James Hampton’s point of view delivers an almost electronic house version that eventually breaks out as a real tech trancer with hard ripping strings. “Weather The Storm” by Space Rockerz is a real 5 star hit, ready to hit the decks!
How is Gary Proud exactly? Well, for one, he’s a newcomer to the trance scene, but don’t let that fool you, this jock’s very first release was on Paul van Dyk’s Vandit Digital late last year, and now he’s following it up on another hard hitting label, Sander van Doorn’s Reset Records!
It would seem his first outing was solid enough to warrant a spot on the storied Reset Records label, and Underdog accomplishes exactly what it’s named for! The track is dark, edgy, deep and crisp and that build up wastes no time getting your hands and feet warmed up, with nary a dull moment to catch your breath on. The melody feels a little over used at times, but it barely detracts from the track’s overall appeal.

Hot on Marcus’ very own imprint Tone Diary Music, this latest features two of today’s hardest hitting progressive tech-electro-trance producers, Robert Burian and Jochen Miller! To be quite honest, I started to salivate instantly when this gem landed in my inbox, I mean, seriously, these three on one release? Release the vibe, this party is about to get hot!
This isn’t the first time we cover a Robert Burian, Marcus Schossow, or Jochen Miller production, and trust me when I say it won’t be the last. The Original Mix in this package is perfectly executed tech trance that is destined to rock massive parties, and you can be sure to hear this beast on Armin’s ASOT 450 live stream. On remix duties we have a seasoned veteran in Jochen Miller and his version carries a little more energy and definitely digs into the past for inspiration with the acid influenced elements in this rework. It will be tough choosing one over the other, but read on past the break for high quality samples and to find out which track rocks out harder!

After last year’s Dopamine Theory, label owner Eelke Kleijn is back again on Outside the Box Music with a brand new 3-track EP. The title track ‘The Way That You Are‘ is reminiscent of Eelke’s earlier sound in tracks like 8 Bit Era and Where Are My Goggles. The soaring guitar lead however, takes this track up a notch, and where earlier tracks were a bit funkier this one is definitely big room material.
DAVI, who featured on the label before with his Minor EP in 2009, has remixed The Way That You Are and we are extremely pleased with the result! If the original is a bit too much for you, you might very well like this more dubbed out (but peak time non the less) version.
Last but not least, Eelke’s track ‘Ring The Bells’ is included as well. This is a more unofficial follow up to Dopamine Theory, and has that typical techno ish groove but with a dose of melody on top. Very hypnotic, soothing, energizing and definite club material.

Touching down in new cities is almost as much a part of being a DJ as working the turntables themselves – a fact that’s never been lost on one of the world’s biggest DJs, Markus Schulz. In the last five years alone his always-rolling World Tour has taken him to more of them than many will see in a lifetime. It’s this ever-transforming melting pot of sound, sight and musical taste that fed his desire to capture them musically. And in 2005 that’s what he started to do…
Since then they have shuttled us between some of the most iconic and best known clubbing metropolises in the world; Miami & Ibiza and Amsterdam & Toronto have all had their clubbing credos encapsulated in mix form. Markus, himself explains further: “Many people say that you see great differences moving between countries – that’s natural. I actually think though that you experience some fairly major ones just going from one country’s city to the next. That’s long been a source of fascination to me. The City compilations are a great way for me to document a place through music, by picking out and turning the spotlight on exactly which tracks & sub-styles are working particularly well in specific cities that I’ve played & loved. ”
Now at the start of the new decade, for the next instalment of his audio-travelogue, Markus is dedicating the ‘10 edition to a place not only increasingly close to his heart, but one that resonates with hundreds of thousands of clubbers worldwide… Las Vegas.

Well, to cap off my High Contrast 3 pack of reviews, I present to you the latest from Heatbeat’s very own Matias Faint. Heatbeat burst onto the scene with Protoculture in 2007, and this Argentinian duo has not looked back since. In this release, Matias takes his sound a little deeper, in an almost thought provoking state, while he teams up with Agustin to deliver a broody and epic rework a la Heatbeat. Since they were kids, Mathias and Agustin were influenced by artists like The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, BT, Judge Jules, Paul van Dyk to name a few. And it certainly shows!
Both tracks are dark, techy and full of head on energy. You simply can’t resist its ability to make you move, and that near circus-like melody in the Heatbeat remix is spooky beyond belief, just the right thing for a Halloween themed trance night! Read on past the break to sample both versions in high quality mp3 and be sure to vote for your fave!
Joop’s been around the trance scene for many years now, and with his first set of headphones and turntables at the tender ages of 13, he’s been on a tear ever since. I discovered Joop in 2005 with his huge 2 track EP The World, but it wasn’t until his 2007 release, Prominent / On Top Of Things, that I really began paying attention to him.
In 2007 he was also selected to write the Trance Energy theme song, and though I never really liked the track, it swept the world with mass hysteria. This latest effort, High Contrast’s 92nd release, is a single track EP that combines much of Joop’s influences and a new sound that is so deep you’ll find it rocks the very core of your existence.
